The Board of Directors invites the Membership of the East Tennessee Historical Society to a special preview and reception for the new feature exhibition

Mountain Dew. Your parents likely warned you about the neon-green soda. Doctors and dentists despise it. Yet, across the United States-especially in the South and Midwest-there are "superfans" of the beverage who will not drink anything else.

Mountain Dew ranks as the third most popular "liquid refreshment brand," behind only Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola. How did Mountain Dew become so popular, at a time when many Americans are looking for healthier beverage options?

Come explore the drink's storied history, which began here in the hills of Appalachia. The feature exhibition includes 232 artifacts that highlight the drink's history from the origins of the term mountain dew and the hillbilly image that influenced media and culture, to becoming the soft drink powerhouse it is today.

Join us for a light reception, and of course, Mountain Dew, beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27.

It'll Tickle Yore Innards will be on display in the Rogers-Claussen Feature Gallery at the East Tennessee History Center through January 20, 2019.
